Camber Sands
Camber Sands is a little unusual for a Sussex beach and the reason is right there in the name. Yes, sand! Unlike most beaches along the Sussex coast which are lined with pebbles and shingle held in place by a series of groynes, Camber Sands is covered in fine, golden sand. Not only that but Camber is home to the only sand dunes in East Sussex.
The best section of beach is the western end near where the River Rother empties into the sea. Here it is wall to wall sand whilst further along the beach becomes more shingley. It’s a big beach too, stretching nearly 5 miles east of the village. As the tide drops out it becomes even bigger with swathes of wet sand revealed - just the sort for making sandcastles and a beautiful spot for romantic sunsets
We are located just a few miles from the cinque port of Rye with cobbled streets, historical buildings and lovely independent shops and restaurants and cocktail bars making it easy to spend time wandering this ancient town.
Rye
The town of Rye is two miles from the sea and in its past was involved with smuggling, was a shipyard and dockyard and was once an island! The Mermaid Inn was built in 1156 and is thought that it is connected by a secret passageway to the Olde Bell Inn.
Hastings & St Leonards
Further along the A 259 you will find to seaside town of Hastings with its funfair, ice cream shops, quirky old town, pubs and restaurants galore, Hastings is a must do visit. Its great for adults and families and there’s many a festival to join all through the year. There something for absolutely everyone in Hastings
Ride the vehicular railway up to the beautiful spacious country park, packed with wild flowers and amazing views; walk through the caves and see what the smugglers used to get up to or stroll the vintage shops. See the fishermen bringing in their catch or ride the miniture railway. Take a walk to St Leonards and visit The Goat Ledge for a warm and friendly few hours on the beach and top notch home made food, coffee or a cheeky cocktail. The Goat Ledge has DJ’s and a cool Ibiza vibe on summer Sundays

Around us
RYE - Mermaid St
One of the Vehicular railways leading to the country park. with breathaking views. The other lift takes you up to the castle and the smugglers caves
Mermaid Street, a beautiful cobbled street, is one of Rye’s most photographed streets and is definitely worth the visit. There are many other winding paths and streets as well as historic buildings, which make it seem like the town has stopped in time in its medieval past.

Winchelsea
RYE - The Grapevine Cocktail Bar
One of Rye’s many quirky, unique & cosy bars known for our signature cocktails, fine wines and regular live music
Winchelsea is one of the most enjoyable places to visit in East Sussex, with the centre of Winchelsea being full of lovely old buildings which stand as evidence of the exalted status Winchelsea once enjoyed. Book a tour of the old cellars, full of tales of smugglers and intrigue, wander the churchyard and find Spike Milligan’s resting place where his headstone reads ‘ I told you I was ill ‘ in Latin. Take a walk to Wickham Manor and sample the fine, award winning wines at the Charles Palmer vineyard
Icklesham
The Brede Valley, woods, orchards, vineyards, a Norman church, are just a few of the delightful reasons to visit Icklesham. Steeped in history, with two welcoming pubs, The Queens Head and the Robin Hood, this village is worth a visit. Take a walk to Hogg Hill Mill, once the home of Paul and Linda McCartney and enjoy the spectacular 360 views. You can do some of the 1066 walk from here, or if you want to, take the The 31-mile 1066 Country Walk. It is a relatively easy, low-level route through countryside that witnessed the Norman Conquest. Starting at Pevensey Castle (and heading north towards the Pevensey levels), it passes Herstmonceux Castle, the historic 1066 Battle Abbey and Battlefield, medieval Winchelsea, ending in historic Rye.
The Pier. For a morning stroll, fairground fun or an afternoon chill at the Rum Bar, the pier is well worth a visit
